WHO ARE WE?

  • KELLY HART

    KELLY HART

    FROM TEACHER TO ENTREPRENEUR

Born and raised in the UK, Kelly Hart began her career as a music teacher in her early twenties, earning her ABRSM qualifications. She quickly rose through the ranks to become Head of Music and Drama at Greenfield Prep School, having taught at respected institutions including Shrewsbury House Prep School, Woodcote House, Manor House Girls School, Hinchley Wood Secondary School, and Asquith Nursery and Reception. Today, Kelly is Head of Music at Weston Green School in Thames Ditton.

Alongside teaching, Kelly has enjoyed a thriving performance career. As a singer and pianist, she has performed at prestigious venues including The Savoy Hotel, The Royal Lancaster Hotel, Wentworth Golf Club, The Cellar Door at The Strand, Café Royal, and many more.

Kelly has always loved working with children through music, and in her late 30s, she felt a calling to give back more deeply to her community. With this passion, Scales & Tales was born—a business dedicated to bringing high-quality music, drama, and dance experiences to children in schools. She quickly expanded the initiative, building a team of talented teachers trained both in the arts and education.

Scales & Tales now operates in a growing number of schools across Surrey and Kingston Upon Thames, inspiring hundreds of children each week through creative and engaging learning experiences. The business continues to evolve, offering a broad and exciting range of services to local schools and families.

    A Personal Journey

Kelly’s path hasn’t been without its challenges. At just 12 years old, she lost her father in a tragic hotel fire while on holiday with her family. This life-altering experience left a deep mark, but it was through music—particularly the piano—that she found solace, expression, and healing.

Music became her refuge and strength during the most difficult time of her life. It’s this transformative power of music that Kelly now wants to share with children who may be navigating their own difficult journeys. Scales & Tales is not just about performance—it's about connection, confidence, and care.

    Life Today

When she's not teaching or running Scales & Tales, Kelly loves spending time at the theatre or attending live music events. She’s passionate about travel, long walks, and quality time with her husband and children. A fitness enthusiast, she also enjoys cycling, dance classes, going to the gym, and lifting weights.

    My Philosophy

"My teaching style is fun and energetic. I believe in being authentic, kind, and inspiring—whether I'm in a classroom or running a business. Providing great service and delivering high-quality teaching are at the heart of everything I do. Music gave me strength as a child, and today, I’m committed to giving that same sense of joy and empowerment to the children I work with."

  • Stanley Randall

Stanley has a great passion for all aspects of music and for the potential to share it with others. His interest began during his childhood, where he wanted to be able to replicate the sounds of his favourite bands/songs, and so, began to play the guitar. Over the years he has achieved grades in guitar (RGT & Rock School) and piano (ABRSM), and has also dabbled in other instruments such as sax and bass.

He first decided on taking on music as a potential career path as a teenager. When studying Music Technology in college, he fell in love with the subject, subsequently finishing the course with a grade of D* (Distinction Star).

Post college, Stanley ended up joining Point Blank Music School, where his knowledge of music furthered dramatically, and became more refined in various audio and music related components. Here, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Production & Sound Engineering, and has gone on to use this qualification to mix and master music for clients’ professional releases, and also to sell music to artists online.

He has taught guitar & music production privately, and is now happy to be at Scales and Tales; teaching children how to play and enjoy music, and hopefully inspire some musicians of the future.

  • Hannah Perfeniuk

    My name is Hannah.

I work for Scales and Tales, teaching vocal and keyboards in Rock band club, as well as 1:1 vocal classes.

My love of music began as a child, growing up in a home full of jazzy trumpet and soulful guitar.

My father was an incredible musician and started training my musical ear when I was young.

Music has been a necessity in my daily life ever since.

I trained at ACM, completing my Vocal Diploma at distinction

Level and have performed in a variety of groups and settings over the years.

  • Joanne Urch

I began dancing in Torbay, Devon at the age of five after seeing a little girl performing on stage in a pink tutu. Inspired, I started dance classes — and funnily enough that “little pink tutu girl” later became my best friend and duet partner for many years.

As a child I loved every aspect of dance, from classes and exams to competitions and shows. My dedication led to winning several titles including The World, British and South West of England Junior Ballet and Modern Championships.

At 14, I trained at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London, before continuing my training at London Studio Centre, studying RAD Ballet and ISTD Modern and Tap.

At 18, I joined a circus in Mexico to gain my Equity card — an adventure that launched a performing career around the world, including cruise ships, pantomimes, summer seasons and entertaining troops overseas. I have also toured the UK as a backing dancer for The Beloved, performed at a Royal Centenary Gala for HRH Queen Elizabeth II, and worked in radio presenting.

Later, becoming a mum to my son Ty inspired me to combine my love of family and dance through teaching. I now teach ballet, tap, modern, street and musical theatre to students aged 2–20, and have choreographed groups that reached the All England Finals.

Having recently moved to Surrey, I am excited to join the Scales & Tales team and share my passion for dance and performing with the next generation.
